Exclusive Interview of Raymond F. AKUM  Raymond F. AKUM , is NickCery Group Central & West Africa worker base in Douala Cameroon and he is , Marine Electrical & Electronic Engineer, working for Lamnalco West Africa marine and offshore services.
My responsibility as Marine Electrical & Electronic Engineer is to:
- Demonstrate relevant Marine Electrical/Electronic experience and knowledge on board ships.
- Provide high quality cost effective maintenance that meets the clients requirements from established relationships with elder service engineers through certifying bodies like MCA, DNV, SOLAS etc.
- Take the leadership role in the problem resolution process.
- demonstrate working knowledge within the following areas; HV / LV power generation / distribution, platform automation, bridge, navigation, comms, HVAC (electrical), electrical installations and associated system integration.
- Take on a ship specification and provide final detailed electrical design for installation teams either as a set of block diagrams or draft / concept / 1st issue single line diagrams.
- Direct and participate in the design and development, ensuring designs meet functional requirements and comply to all engineering and regulatory requirements.
- Develops project plans, functional, design and technical specifications.
- Identify commercial / technical ambiguities, risks and opportunities.
- Detail requirements / set specification of power generation / distribution system, alarm and monitoring system, electrical propulsion and bridge (navigation / communication and motion control) systems, to name just a few.
Question : How long have you been in this field?.
Raymond's Response: I've been involved in this deal for 44 months now, and i still want to put in much more time. I have spent all 44 months with Lamnalco West Africa(marine and offshore services) through recruiting agencies that i would not like to name.
Question: You have been employed by NickCery Group, which is British, American and Dutch firm with head office base in Houston Texas 77027 USA, for more than a year now?, why would you prefer working with them?
Raymond's Response: Well, i've been working for NickCery Group Central & West Africa for 23 months now and i think i have received immense personal rewards in the form of remuneration and professional recognition. On the other hand i'm still looking forward to participate in some activities such as (safety training courses)going on within the company.
